Jehan is a tattoo artist working at North SF, located in San Francisco.

She draws inspiration from nature patterns, surrealism, medieval illustration and her Iraqi/Turkish/Texan background.

She studied fine art/visual design in Istanbul and will always have a dual passion for analog craftsmanship and digital innovation. Her portfolio spans from 3D works, oil paintings and now tattoos.

Moving between diverse landscapes, different languages, rhythms and ways of living made her deeply aware of how humans and landscape influence one another—how environment shapes people, and how people, in turn, shape their environment. Jehan’s focus is water cymatics for tattoos. Designs that are informed by sound visualization using water as the medium.

“At home, I built a setup where I use water and my keyboard to translate audio frequencies into physical patterns. I look at water cymatics, as a connection to source. A relative. We are largely composed of water — our hearts beat, and we breath at a cadence that reflects melody. We are always changing, as water does. This practice is like having insight to the unseen patterns of the universe. What exists beyond perception. My interests throughout my life seem to be an overlap of technology and nature. My mind lives in a world where the two are working together, in a way that becomes symbiotic, not destructive. When I worked in design, expectations quickly became beyond human. My goal was never to develop designs/products for more products that we don’t need and essentially are destructive. It’s always been to be of service to humanity. Growing up I had many service industry jobs. While I didn’t want that to be my life’s work, there was an aspect about it that I deeply valued. That is a human connection and being of service to others. It’s where I feel most alive and inspired”

“Got my first tattoo from Jehan a week ago and I could not have asked for a better first time experience. As a trauma therapist, I know what types of things bring comfort in scary, unfamiliar situations. Jehan did such a great job soothing my nervous system--she answered all my questions with kindness, loaded me up with info, was reassuring and when the time came, she had the gentlest hand. And she told me she would! Honestly, her technique was so gentle, I found it meditative and relaxing. All of this AND I walked away with a tattoo that was divine in looks and meaning. Will forever be grateful for this experience she offered”
